What to do about Passwords
Thomason Company
Thwarting other humans.
To stay within all the rules from the previous page I use a simple reminder trick.  (Never write down your password).

Ok, I write down the phrase that reminds me of the password.  Since I keep a list of all my accounts and passwords on my smart phone, I write down the phrase Car+House as the PW.  For me, this is my favorite car name and number on my house.  Chevyvolt15102.  That meets all the limits from the previous page.   I could also interlace the two Chevy15102volt.  Should someone discover my accounts list, typing Car+House will never work.

PIN numbers:  I write down "Pin+Forever" as my reminder phrase.  My pin is parts of my US Navy services number that is unique to me, forever.

User ID's:  Sometimes user id's are email addresses.  I purposely have an extra email account called "KeepThis@address.com".  I use it for everything not important.  Most emails in that account I don't keep, and soon delete but it helps keep my important email account less cluttered of junk mail.

Update May 2012. Three common words.  I have stumbled across this option in several places.  It suggests combining three common words is as secure as anything else.  Example:  AlwaysBeHappy    Phrase: ABH
